Every once in a while, there's a piece of hardware you really can't write much about - because it just does what it's supposed to do, is easy to use and easy to install. The Adaptoid by Wish Technologies is such a piece of hardware.

What is an Adaptoid ?

N64 controllers are way better than the average low-budget gamepads out there. No matter if you are a N64-owner or not, you will certainly know those cool, ergonomical N64-controllers that feature 10 buttons as well as both analog/digital controls. Especially if you already own one, you certainly wondered why you have to buy another joystick for your PC - well, you don't have to anymore.

The Adaptoid is an adapter to connect your N64-controller to the USB-port of your PC.

How about installation ?

Once all the plugging is done - meaning the N64-controller is connected to the Adaptoid and the latter is connected to one of your USB-ports - the driver installation will start automatically. While Windows already has standard-drivers that will make your Adaptoid function, some of its features are only enabled when using the special Adaptoid-drivers by Wish Technologies.

Shake it baby !

With these drivers, the adaptoid will also make use of the "Rumble Pack", the worlds first Force Feedback device. If you own one and have connected it to your N64-controller, the drivers will detect it and every game that supports force feedback will make use of it.

Furthermore, N64-owners can use the adaptoid to up & download their savegames and other Memory-Pak data to their PC. Once they're on your PC, you can mail them to your friends, post them on the web, archive them... well, you get the point.
