The Megaman series of games is one of gaming's oldest and most venerable titles, as well as one of the most prolific; so far, it's gone through two standalone PC titles, Gameboy titles, the 8 games in the Megaman series, three in the Legends lineup (Legends, Legends 2, and the Adventures of Tron Bonne), the Zero spinoff series to Gameboy Advance, a soccer title, and now the seventh game in the X line.

All of which begs the question... has the series jumped the shark? Capcom, in X7, gives us both hope for the future and an indication that the series has acquired an astonishing lack of direction.
