Conversions of the d20 roleplaying system are big business these days - ever since Bioware proved that Dungeons and Dragons could be made into solid gameplay, and ever since Wizards of the Coast started licensing the engine out, it's proven to have staying power. Why not? It's a relatively intuitive, flexible engine that integrates incredibly well into real-time RPG gameplay.

Of course, some teams do it better than others. The original designers of Knights of the Old Republic, for instance, made the mistake of leaving the game capped at level 20. The designers of X-Men Legends have put together a game that's fun and enjoyable, if not perfect - it feels more like someone took Baldur's Gate and skinned X-men graphics into it than someone designed an X-men title from the ground up.

That being said, it's still a fun and worthwhile title.
