If there's one thing Raven Software know, it's first-person shooters. From their second game (Shadowcaster) through years of making games with licensed engines from iD Software, through the venerable Heretic/Hexen series and through modern day runs including Wolfenstein, the FPS genre has been their bread and butter.

Singularity seems to be a chance for the developers at Raven to stretch their legs - though it uses Unreal Engine 3 for most of the basic programming, it has an intriguing premise that has some serious potential. Unfortunately, from the looks of things, the single-player game is a side project at best; hopes may have laid with the game becoming a contender in the multiplayer market.
