Reviewed: Sound Blaster Live! Value with FPS2000 Speakers
Manufacturer: Creative Labs
Product Type: Sound System & Speakers
Price: Sound Blaster Live! $99.99, FPS2000 Speakers $199.99
Overall Rating:
Author: Michael "" Ahlf       Date: October 12th 1999

Product Overview:

Creative Labs have long held control over sound systems -- every sound card for a long time held the words "Sound Blaster Compatible", in whatever way it could be justified, in hopes of getting peopel to buy in. In recent years, Aureal has challenged this, creating their own 3d sound standard to compete with Creative's EAX. Foremost in Creative's line is the Sound Blaster Live! line. Like its name suggests, this 128-bit sound card (PCI) promises to deliver stunning sound quality, with realistic effects. And it delivers. The FPS2000 speakers also claim to boost performance to another level: linked together, these two should satifsy any gamer's appetite for sound, at least for now. The FPS2000's did their job well, with only a slight disappointment in certain elements.
